Case Study

We were appointed to undertake a light touch refurbishment of an existing office floor within a high-profile commercial office building in the heart of the City. The works included a full refresh of the lighting provisions, new floor finishes throughout, the creation of a new “Town Hall” conference area, a n ewcanteen, installation of acoustic joinery panels in their existing meeting rooms and a new break out area.

The works were carried out in 9 weeks in the run up to Christmas 2023

Challenges

The programme was extremely challenging (9 weeks) and we had to work over the Christmas period when resourcing can be challenging. It was discovered during the preconstruction period that the existing sprinkler provision in the building was not as expected so design alterations to the proposed ceiling works had to be carried out unexpectedly. There was also a number of light fittings selected that were on a very tight lead in time so the procurement of these had to be well managed to keep to programme.

Solutions

Weekend working was adopted throughout, as well as, evening works to accommodate the sprinkler and fire alarm activities. The design changes we had to accommodate were managed in a controlled and collaborative manner with the client architect and a strict schedule of design workshops and design freezes was maintained.
